What is your role in the CB?

Head/Lead/Chair of Girls Age Grade Rugby

What makes you love rugby and any background info ?

I think it’s hard not to love rugby once you’ve become part of the community & family that goes with being part of a grassroots club. My love of the game was born from seeing three of my daughters start playing & I’ve been hooked ever since!!! The friends we’ve all made & memories we’ve built travelling to different clubs across the country is what makes it so special.

What’s your earliest memory of rugby and what ?

Taking one of my daughters to her first fixture at U13s. There was only 7 of them in the team & the weather was absolutely horrendous but they loved every minute & I think from that day I was pretty certain that rugby was going to play a big part in our lives.

Have you got any favourite moments to share ?

So many!!!! Being part of the new ERDPP set up & seeing so many amazing players & coaches come together from across the county for a new programme was pretty special.

Witnessing how well our U18s County Squad performed despite the challenges around player numbers was another highlight.  They were all amazing & their determination & resilience was a credit to the county.

It’s hugely beneficial for the girls to have these kinds of experiences & play rugby & make friends outside of their club environment.

On a club level it has to be our girls event where we had four Red Roses, Marlie Packer, Zoe Harrison, Bryony Cleall & Rosie Galligan come & do a training session with the squad.  We had over 80 girls in attendance & the buzz at the club was unbelievable. It was just such a great night.

What does success look like in the CB role you play ?

I think fundamentally it would be to see a healthy growth of the girls game across the county. Anyone who is involved with the female game is aware of the challenges around playing numbers & recruitment. We now have some great people across the county leading in the girls sections & trying to grow the numbers they have & I’m really keen to support that in anyway I can.

I am also looking forward to promoting & supporting the pathway programmes we have in place. With our ERDPP, U18s County & CofE programs firmly in place it would also be great to see some of these players progressing through to play with our County Women’s Squad in the future.
