My Rugby Story
I came late to the sport of rugby at the ripe old age of 37, having previously been an international fencer. I have played for a number of military teams as well as Faringdon RUFC. I initially got in to rugby helping as a parent when my daughter started playing and subsequently gained an RFU L2 coaching qualification that I have used with both children and adults.
My D&I Experience
As a member of the Army I have been very lucky to receive large amounts of leadership and management training, a lot of which has focussed on Diversity and Inclusion. I am currently the head of personnel for my organisation and therefore have numerous D&I resources and networks to draw upon.
What I want to achieve for rugby in Oxfordshire
In the sport of rugby I have found a sport with an incredible sense of community and belonging. Every team that I have played for has embraced new people and made me feel incredibly welcome and I am passionate about making sure that anyone in the county who wants to be involved with rugby in the county is given the same warm welcome that I have been, no matter their background or personal circumstances.
