WHAT IS YOUR RUGBY BACKGROUND

Having a husband playing for Harwell RFC and many hours standing on touchlines watching, I was very often around the rugby club helping here and there were necessary.  In 1989 our Fixture Secretary at the time was taking on a new role, and I was asked if I would mind doing the job for a couple of weeks until they found someone else, they never found anyone else, and I continue to this day!

HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN THE COUNTY

In 2005 I was approached to see if I would be interested in taking over the role of Oxfordshire Disciplinary Secretary.  After some initial training I took on the role and have found it both rewarding and interesting. I am also the CBAGDS for Oxfordshire as well. In 2016 I also took on the role of Oxfordshire Safeguarding Manager.  I have also been part of the Competitions Committee helping to run the County Cup and Shield competitions, and proud to have been part of the support team for the Oxfordshire success of winning the Bill Beaumont County Championship at Twickenham in 2017, a first for Oxfordshire.  I also serve on the South West DOC Committee as a league secretary and am part of the BBO committee for leagues within the RFU South West División.

WHAT ARE YOUR RUGBY HIGHLIGHTS

Becoming the Oxfordshire RFU President for the 2018/20 seasons was a very great honour and I was privileged to have been the first lady to have been appointed to this role.  Also, when both my husband Doug and I received Life Membership of Oxfordshire RFU.

WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE

I want to make sure that discipline both adult and junior is kept within our clubs, and that procedures are in place to make that happen.  That children and vulnerable adults can be in a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment to play rugby, and that clubs and coaches are aware of that and all necessary precautions are taken to make this happen, and that clubs are up to date with the DBS procedures.
