I started to play rugby at the early age of 6 at Banbury rugby club with their minis before moving to the newly formed Brackley rugby club in 1983. I remained at Brackley until the start of the 1990’s when I started at Brighton University. I played rugby for Brighton first team throughout my time at the University before moving to Oxfordshire in 1994. I was fortunate to begin the next stage of my rugby career as a player at Oxford Marathon and then ultimately Oxford Harlequins before work moved me to Wallingford which is where I spent the remainder of my career.

While at Wallingford I was fortunate to have captained the second team as we won the 2008/09 BBO Premier A. Following an injury that kept me off the pitch the following season, I returned to rugby in the 2011/12 season as the coach of Wallingford 1st team. A position that I held for the following 3 seasons, returning to the field as a player in 2014 before finally hanging up the playing boots in 2022.

Between 2015 and 2020 I also held the position of club secretary and graduated from the RFU leadership academy in 2019. In 2020 I took the plunge and qualified as a referee and have now started on my refereeing career alongside my role on the CB.

Rugby has been a source of great enjoyment to me as a player and a coach. Now in my role as Vice President and as a referee I hope to be able to allow many others around the county also take the same enjoyment from the game we all love.
